I recently met a 87 year-old man who sews quilts for the needy in his spare time. He cranks out hundreds of quilts a year for this purpose. I met him while serving at a local temple and he also does gads of family history work when he isn’t serving his church, his family, or the community. The man was energetic and kind and a great reminder to me that no matter how old I am (or how young *wink*), we can all make a difference in this world. His passion was service (and sewing it would seem), and so he does just that–no holding back! He is living his dreams and finding joy in it.
Seeing him made me want to find my passion and dream big for what I really want during this short life of mine. With all the crazy plot twists in my life recently, I have started re-evaluating what I am doing and where I am going. Who doesn’t have to do that now and again? It’s like the good sailor who checks his bearing every so often to make sure he’s still on course. It’s a necessity of life. I am still fleshing out what I want and how it will look, but the journey is something I am really looking forward to!
C.S. Lewis once said, “You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.” I’ll toast to that!
